BP/Paulsboro Partnership
While the focus of BP's work at Paulsboro has been on cleaning up the site, it has also led an extensive effort to promote redevelopment of the property. Working with the Mayor, the Borough Council, the County administrators, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, the Delaware River Planning Commission, the South Jersey Port Corporation (SJPC), the Gloucester County Improvement Authority (GCIA), and Senator Jon Corzine's office, BP has contributed to redevelopment by:
- Completing multi-phased feasibility and planning studies on how to best utilize the property
- Constructing one of the largest solar field on the East Coast on a former landfill adjacent to the Terminal
- Conveying control of the Terminal property to the Borough to allow for the creation of a deep water port, the first new public port on the Delaware River in 35 years
- Working closely with the GCIA during port redevelopment planning and port redevelopment activities to coordinate remediation activities
